National Context
In the United States women are being under represented even if we live in the 21th century. For instance percentages of women in all parts of the government are U.S. Senators 17.0, Members of the U.S., House of Representatives 16.8, State Governors 12.0, Statewide Elected Officials 22.4, State Legislators 23.6, Mayors of the 100 Largest Cities 8.0. That’s so little percentages to compare to the male percentages. The low numbers of women in politics are particularly glaring when we place them in context. Whereas the 1980s saw gradual, but steady increases in the percentage of women seeking elected office, and the early 1990s experienced a sharper surge, the last several election cycles can be characterized as a plateau. Indeed seeing that the representation increased and then it decreased over the years.
Therefore if there are more women then, women are going to be able to have more policies that will benefit women. Electing more women increases the likelihood that policy debates and deliberations include women’s views and experiences. To conclude that if there are more women in congress more benefits for women, views of women in the government and help with women’s rights. We argue that the fundamental reason for women’s under-representation is that they do not run for office. There is a substantial gender gap in political ambition; men tend to have it, and women don’t .2 And the gender gap in ambition is persistent and unchanging In brief that because women weren't before in elections and men always been that people would pick a man for the role of a leader of the country.
Talking about how many women in congress represent the amount of women in the U.S. Seeing that women are out down by not only men but by their people because of the big gap that women had with government that is why number of women don’t increase. If there aren't more women in congress to talk about women’s rights or issues than women aren't going to be looked. Women are going to face challenges and issues for years and then future generations will suffer too. Women should be a big part of government because they have the skills and knowledge to become powerful leaders that can help and change the world. In society thinks that women shouldn't be in congress because make women feel like women should be in the kitchen instead studying in college to become someone that will make a change in the world. Some of the challenges that women have is to break the stereotypes because all the people around them tell them that women shouldn't be high power because they going to cause more wars because of periods and making us believe that women are not born to be great leaders that we are born to cook and clean. That is going to be unfair for the future generation to facing the stereotypes of women. I hope in the future that women don’t have to hear the stereotypes that makes all women feel bad and making fun of women makes us feel like we aren't spouse to become leaders because they think we can’t handle it.
