Social Justice
My definition of social justice is that it doesn’t matter your gender, color, sexuality and race you are treated equally. My definition of social justice was always the same because I always lived the injustice that I already knew the definition by knowing the struggle of having the injustice. My definition didn't change but I learned that you need social justice everywhere and we need to fight for it not look at the injustice happening. Fight for social justice will make the world a little better. When I was younger, I grew up seeing mother getting up every day at 5 in the morning, getting me up and ready to go to the babysitter. I would get up with no complains. I would always see a smile on her face but in her eyes I would see her dying inside wanting to become someone much better in life instead of being a factory worker. The two big problems that she faced over the years was not having enough money and not having an education.
My mother always told me to become someone in life that will make a change and be respected in life. She wanted me to succeed because she didn't. She wanted me to have an education, so I wouldn't get looked down on like I was an uneducated Mexican. I do have opportunities as a citizen but as a women I have very little that’s what mom would see as normal because of the Mexican culture that she lived her entire life. Then that’s when i started to become a feminist because I wanted to show all women that we are equal as men.
There are many ways to achieve social justice is by peace deportations, by policy, by using the power of the people. Martin Luther King Jr. one the best examples to show about peace protests because he accomplish social justice by protesting and matching for civil rights for black people. Another example is Cesar Chavez he was matching for rights of farm workers and for increase in pay. Both of those men made a changed for two different issues but both of them accomplish social justice one way or another.
Although, my role is that I lived the struggle of living in the injustice growing up my entire life that now I want to fight for social justice by becoming a civil rights lawyer because I want to protect the people that don’t have a voice and I would want to give them my voice so they can use it to fight for human rights and fight for social justice then make a social change. And I want to become an environmental lawyer because I want to fight for our environment because if we don’t have planet then we aren't going to have social justice issues.
Therefore I choose my topic on something I’m passionate about is women’s rights and seeing what is the cause of not having women represent other women.
